Augustus 27 BC-14 AD. AR denarius (20 mm; 3.62 g). Rome mint, struck 98-117 AD. Obverse: CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE, Laureate head of Augustus right, with the features of Trajan. Reverse: AVGVSTI F COS DESIG PRINC IVVENT / CL CAESARES, Gaius and Lucius Caesars standing facing with two round shields at base and two spears in background between them; above, simpulum on the left and lituus on the right. Well struck on a broad flan. Attractive light tone with faint traces of luster. A rare issue to find in this condition.
